VCDX Journey
Where shall i start.
I have the desire to get my VCDX -CMA for more then a year already. To get time, to focus and to achieve the prerequisites can be very difficult.
I am working for ITQ and Dell DTS program for a client in the Netherlands for a few years now. This job gives me a lot of opportunities, but also a lot of work. This work consists of day to day DevOps and handle incidents and so. but also developing new code for vRealize Orchestrator and vRealize Automation via the old fashioned vRO client or via the new way.
The Visual Studio Code plugin which is developed by VMware Professional Service Center of Excellence (PSCoE).

As some colleagues and I, used this toolset from the beginning with Typescript, Yes that is possible to. on a huge project with vRA, NSX-v, InfoBlox etc. This projects ate up most of my time. Because when you are on the drivers seat and need to make development decisions and have huge deadlines, i cannot get it out of my head. This project or must i say epic took a lot of time and i could not let it go outside business hours. As a developer, the best things are build when its night, right :). It went to production successfully.
Enough said about that project, but with this client i have also the opportunity to think of architecture of vRealize Automation in a Global scale. and that is something i really like. Big thinking.
And this client with the new design i can use my VCDX , because i still have the desire to attend a VCDX defense. But first i need to get the prerequisites and that took a while.
As you might already know for the VCDX you need to have following prerequisites:
- Have experience with the track you want to defend
- Have a project
- Have the VCIX for the track you want to do.
That last one took a while for me. I failed a few times for the VCAP-CMA Design and then the drive to continue fades away. Because i really though i know CMA from top to bottom. Maybe i know it to much as a developer and knowing the limitations let me think different then the designers of the exams think. Another think is that i did not take enough time to learn, while i was busy with the project mentioned above.
But finally i passed the VCAP7-CMA Design with a nice score. Prerequisites number 3 is done YEAHH.. finally
The year 2020 I want to do the VCDX defense SO FOCUS.
